What is the Curriculum Initiatives Program?
Curriculum Initiatives is a program designed to provide resources for teachers through free online materials (such as lesson plans), in-service opportunities, and workshops.
Lesson Plans/Units
Missouri teachers may submit their own units/lessons to SuccessLink via an online submission form. These units/lessons are carefully reviewed by our curriculum specialists, and once they are approved, they are posted on the SuccessLink website. The lessons may be accessed, printed, and used by all teachers at no charge. All lessons are aligned to the Missouri Show-Me Standards, as well as the Missouri Grade Level Expectations. Lesson content covers all content areas and there are lessons appropriate for kindergarten through twelfth grade.
The SuccessLink website has a database of over 2500 units/lessons. The lessons may be searched by GLEs, content, or grade levels. We offer three incentive programs to encourage teachers to submit quality units/lessons – graduate credit courses, Career Ladder, and a monthly cash award program.
In-service Training:
In addition, our Curriculum Initiatives team is available to offer in-service training to all school districts, covering topics such as Classroom Assessment, Formative Assessment, Backward Design, Science and Math Inquiry, Science and Math Notebooking, Data Collection, Curriculum Review and Design, and Integration of Science or Math with Literacy. This year, we are offering Science Revolution, which is a series of visits that provide two days of classroom coaching, 4 days of workshops, and seven resource books for the school professional library. We also offer workshops at our SuccessLink office. In addition, we host an annual Summer Science Institute, geared to provide hands-on training for science teachers across the state.
